Four Priorities to Overcome Transportation and Air Quality Issues

The Jakarta Transportation Agency has four priorities in dealing with transportation and air quality control issues in Jakarta.

The second is eco-friendly vehicles such as bicycle and electric motor

The first is pedestrians must be well facilitated. "The second is eco-friendly vehicles such as bicycle and electric motor," disclosed Jakarta Transportation Agency Head, Syafrin Liputo, Tuesday (8/25).

The third is the optimization of public transportation structuring and the last is the limitation of private vehicles.

Signage and Wayfinding About Public Transportation in Jakarta Gets Positive Response

Based on Gubernatorial Instruction No. 66/2019 on quality air control, integrated steps are needed as a whole.

"Sooner or later, all pedestrian lane structuring will lead to the public transport network thus pedestrian facilities toward pubic transport stops will be added again," he explained.

Every day, he added, the Transjakarta could maximally carry 1.8 million people but now only 800 thousand per day. That means there are still very many public transport users who can be accommodated.

"Through socialization, we will announce it to the public. Physically our sidewalk is developed to the public transport stops," he said.
